Lumen Christi

You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.

Nor do they light a lamp
and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.

Just so,
your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father.

Matthew 5:13-16

Saint Mary of the Assumption is happy to offer the youth of our parish opportunities throughout the year to participate in Lumen Christi Day - a day of mercy and service around our community. Students in grades 7 -12 are welcome to join for these days of prayer and service.

On Saturday, 3 May, 24 youth came out to share the light of Christ in projects at Carriage Court, Primrose, Forest Rose- Sensory Trail, and Foundation Dinners. We gathered for Morning Prayer, had small group ice breakers and talked about each teams mission, then shared lunch before heading out to serve at our sites for about 3.5 hours. We then gathered together later in the afternoon for dinner, to share and reflect on our day, and closed the day with a Rosary and Mass.

Check back to watch for the next Lumen Christi Day!
