Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum

Join us this Holy Week as we journey with our Lord as He goes to Jerusalem to enter into His sacred Passion and Death, which are soon vanquished by His Resurrection. Help us, O Lord, to enter well into these feasts and traditions, that we might always live intimately with you.

Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion

Mass for Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion will be offered at 5:30 pm on Saturday evening and on Sunday at 8:45 am and 11:15 am. Palm will be available for the congregation inside the doors of the church to be blessed during Mass. Incense will be used at the Sunday Masses.

Weather permitting, the 11:15 Mass will begin on the parish courtyard for the Commemoration of the Lord’s Entrance to Jerusalem. Those with walking difficulties can enter the church through the South Entrance when the Commemoration Procession begins to move down the sidewalk to the High St. entrance of the church.

Holy Thursday

There is no 9:00 am Mass. Lauds, the Morning Prayer of the Church’s Liturgy of the Hours, will be prayed at 9:00 am. Please be sure to pick-up a purple booklet inside the doors of the church to pray Morning Prayer.

Holy Mass will be offered at 7:00 pm in commemoration of the institution of the sacraments of Holy Orders and Holy Communion. Incense will be used. The Blessed Sacrament will be transferred to the Chapel of Repose at the close of Mass; all are welcome to pray and keep vigil with the Lord. We will pray Compline – Night Prayer at the close of the night – booklets will be available.

Good Friday

There is no 7:00 am Mass. Lauds, the Morning Prayer of the Church’s Liturgy of the Hours, will be prayed at 9:00 am. Please be sure to pick-up a purple booklet inside the doors of the church to pray Morning Prayer.

The Service for Friday of the Passion of the Lord is at 12:10 pm. The Service contains the Liturgy of the Word, the Solemn Intercessions, the Adoration of the Holy Cross, and Holy Communion.

* Good Friday is a day of both Fast and Abstinence from meat. *

Holy Saturday & Easter Sunday

Matins & Lauds, the Office of Readings and the Morning Prayer of the Church’s Liturgy of the Hours, will be prayed at 9:00 am. There will also be several Rites pertaining to those men and women in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Please be sure to pick-up a purple booklet inside the doors of the church to pray Morning Prayer.

In your charity, please pray for those men, women, and children who will enter the Catholic Church through Baptism or those from other Christian Communities who will reconcile with the Catholic Church this evening and receive the sacraments of Initiation.

The Easter Vigil, the greatest and most noble of all solemnities, will begin at 8:30 pm. Please take a candle taper from inside the entrances to the church and gather outside on the patio in front of church for the Blessing of the Easter Fire and Paschal Candle. After the Procession of Light, the Exsultet will be chanted, then follows the Liturgy of the Word with the full nine readings: seven from the Old Testament and two from the New Testament. The Easter Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion will be celebrated with three Elect and five Candidates. A reception will be held in the Spirit Center following Mass in honour of the newly Initiated.
