St. Thomas Aquinas Lecture on Jan. 25: Ohio Dominican University’s Center for Dominican Studies and Office of Academic Affairs will host its annual St. Thomas Aquinas Convocation at 11 a.m., Jan. 25, 2018.

Ohio Dominican University’s Center for Dominican Studies and Office of Academic Affairs will host its annual St. Thomas Aquinas Convocation at 11 a.m., Jan. 25, 2018. The convocation will take place in the Matesich Theatre, located inside Erskine Hall on ODU’s campus, 1216 Sunbury Road, Columbus, 43219. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The keynote speaker, Fr. Brian Davies, OP, Ph.D., will present “St. Thomas Aquinas on God and Evil.”

Following the lecture, the Most Reverend Frederick F. Campbell, D.D., Ph.D., Bishop of Columbus, will celebrate the Eucharist in Christ the King Chapel, located in Sansbury Hall. University Chaplain, Fr. Paul Colloton, OSFS, will con-celebrate.

Fr. Davies, OP, Ph.D. is a Dominican Priest and Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Fordham University in Bronx, New York. Fr. Davies received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Bristol University, and a master’s and Ph.D. from King’s College in London. He also holds an honorary Master of Arts degree from Oxford University. Fr. Davies has previously taught at Emory University in Atlanta, Bristol University in the United Kingdom, and Collegio Beda in Rome, Italy.

Fr. Davies is widely published in a variety of academic journals, having written extensively on the topics of philosophy, religion, God and evil, and St. Thomas Aquinas. His book, “Thomas Aquinas on God and Evil,” offers an in-depth study of Saint Thomas Aquinas’ thoughts on God and evil, revealing that Aquinas’ thinking about God and evil can be traced through his metaphysical philosophy, his thoughts on God and creation, and his writings about Christian revelation and the doctrines of the Trinity and the Incarnation.
