St. Peter Lutheran Church has invited St. Mary Parish to a Prayer service in Commemoration of the 500 Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation on Sunday October 1, 2017 at 4:00 PM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Lancaster. Father Eilerman and Deacon Sullivan will both be participating, as well as the St. Mary Adult Choir. While Catholics and Lutherans look at the events of 500 years ago from two different perspectives; this prayer service is an occasion to show the Christian unity that exist between our two communities, as well as an opportunity advance the work of reconciliation. Last year Pope Francis traveled to Lund Sweden and participated in a similar Commemoration Service in a Lutheran Church. It with the Holy Fathers example in mind, that I recommend your participation in this local service.
